SIERRA LEONE have made it through to the next stage of the ICC U19 cricket world cup  Africa Division two , after cruising through the 3rd match in  Group A against Rwanda  with a commanding display in North West University Sports Village cricket Stadium Potchefstroom South Africa making it three wins out of three with one match to spare.

 

Their latest victory, against Rwanda, was sealed thanks to an incredible bowling display by the Sierra Leonean bowlers.

 

Sierra Leone had won the toss and elected to bowl due to the pitch condition in the morning.

 

Captain George Edward Ngegba breaks and sets a new bowling record for Sierra Leone in all ICC organized tournaments having delivered 60 balls , conceded only 6 run with an economy rate of 0.6 run per Over , took two wickets , with 6 Maidens .

 

Charles Kargbo delivered 60 balls , conceded 9 run with an economy rate of 0.9 run an over with an incredible 4 Maidens and took 3 wickets equaling Abu Bakarr Kamara's bowling record against Swaziland in 2010.

 

Rwanda couldn't withstand the superior bowling firepower of Sierra Leone, as a result, they  were bowled out for 36 run,  setting an easily achieved target of 37 for the Sierra Leone U19 Boys. 

 

Sierra Leone responded with their middle order batters in a bid to recover Net run rate. It worked out  well as planned for Sierra Leone.

 

George Edward Ngegba and Little John Bangura opened the batting. 

John Bangura was out bowled for dock but Ngegba stood firm and later joined by an aggressive batter Haroun Kamara who stuck 20 runs froSLCA

balls not out and the Captain George Edward Ngegba posted 14 run from 11 balls not out,  taking his total tally of runs to 504 for Sierra Leone in all ICC competitions since he made his international debut for Sierra Leone in April 2016,  two years after he led his School Prince of Wales POW  to a well deserved SLCA's inter secondary schools cricket championship in 2014 against Government Model Secondary school cricket team.

 

Sierra Leone won the match by 9 wickets in 4.3 Overs.

 

Captain George Edward Ngegba won the man of the match award having scored 14 off 11 balls with an incredible bowling record  setting of 2 for 6 off 60 balls and  6 Maidens.

 

Sierra Leone's next and final group A's match is on Saturday 25 August 2018, a match that will determined the group A leader.
